A key focus of the new project was incorporating gamification elements to enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention. Extensive stakeholder collaboration and thorough market research into existing information security training programs informed the design and development process.

Learners faced navigation frustration and low engagement, resulting in minimal knowledge retention. The course failed to accommodate modern learning preferences—it lacked microlearning modules and did not fit busy schedules.

Solution Architecture

A learner-centered design approach was adopted, incorporating gamification principles and microlearning strategies. Market research was conducted to understand the specific pain points of the learners and identify best practices in information security training. Stakeholder input was gathered throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with organisational goals. The solution included:

Gamification

Incorporation of points, badges, leaderboards, and interactive scenarios to motivate learners and reinforce learning.

Microlearning

Breaking down the content into modules of under 15 minutes, utilising microlearning chunks where necessary.

Intuitive UI

Creation of a clean and intuitive user interface to address the navigation issues of the older course.

Interactive Storyline 360

Leveraging Storyline 360's interactive features to create immersive learning experiences, including branching scenarios and simulations.

Voice Over

The use of Elevenlabs to provide professional voice-overs for the entirety of the course, enhancing accessibility and engagement.

Accessibility

Interweaving accessibility standards throughout the design and development process to ensure the course met the needs of all learners.

UAT Testing

Extensive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) was conducted to ensure alignment with project goals and identify any areas for improvement.
